Mary Barta, MS, CCC-SLP

Mary is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who has been providing speech therapy since 2012 with 5 years proving therapy online prior to 2020. Mary is driven to empower individuals to attain their greatest successful independence in effectively expressing and advocating for themselves, developing and maintaining relationships, interpreting verbal and non-verbal communication, and sharing in the creation and retelling of life’s stories – big and small.

Mary completed a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science & Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant Certification at Arizona State University, and attained her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Pacific University. Mary has received training in a variety of therapeutic approaches to address speech, language, and communication challenges as well as in trauma-informed care, play and interaction, voice training, collaborative problem-solving, behavior management, swallowing, and cognitive-communication rehabilitation.

Mary's clinical experience includes educational and clinical settings with children in early intervention, early childhood education, K-12 school-aged as well as adults. Mary has participated in specialized programs to support children and youth experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, and LGBTQIA+ youth. Mary comes with over 11 years of experience working with diverse populations of children and families navigating the impact of disabilities and communication disorders, including: social communication and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), phonological and articulation or speech sound disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, oromyofacial abnormalities, stuttering or fluency, voice rehabilitation, gender-affirming voice therapy, and resonance disorders, receptive-expressive language disorders, and traumatic brain injury.

Some of Mary’s favorite things, other than learning and working with clients, include singing (solo and in chorus), baking, tending to her garden, chit-chatting, traveling, and spending quality time with nature, family, friends, and of course, the kitties!
